JK Team

Get to know Michelle Cordero, Senior Social Media Manager

If you’ve laughed at a JK post, shared a behind-the-scenes Reels, or discovered a story you didn’t know about our business, there’s a great chance Michelle Cordero had a hand in it. Michelle is JK’s Senior Social Media Manager and has been with us for almost three years (“will be three in January”). She’s the steady voice and creative spark behind our social presence.

How Michelle got here

Michelle started her career in journalism on Capitol Hill, editing and writing news and opinion pieces. She even did a string of on-air TV appearances – enough to realize live television wasn’t her happy place. That discovery nudged her toward communications, where a side project changed everything: A food blog.

What began as a creative outlet turned into a standout platform. Michelle collaborated with brands like Starbucks and General Mills, landed features in magazines and on major websites, and even published a cookbook. That success lit the path to digital communications and, ultimately, social media. Before JK, she led social at a large DC think tank, growing their audience by nearly 300,000 followers.

Why JK?

“I was attracted to JK because the company is so multifaceted. It’s so much more than just a moving company. I was excited to find ways to tell that story on social.” Her favorite part since joining? The people. “Being part of a strong team that works well together under strong leadership” is what keeps Michelle energized day after day.

Wins that make Michelle proud

When Michelle arrived, she wondered: Can a moving company go viral? Answer: Yes – more than once. Our latest viral video is sitting at 1.1 million views, proof that authentic stories and smart creative can travel far.

What’s her best advice for social pros?

“Consume and engage on social regularly. That’s how you spot trends and find creative ways to tell stories that truly engage people.” It’s simple, but it’s the habit that sharpens instincts and keeps content relevant.

Goals on the horizon

Before the pandemic, Michelle was an Orange Theory regular, going three times a week. She’s working back toward that rhythm now, aiming for a consistent workout routine this year.

Michelle Cordero outside of work

Michelle Cordero and familyMichelle lives a wonderfully full life with her husband, Nick, and their two kids (ages 9 and 12). When she’s off the clock, you’ll find her behind a camera, with a book in hand, crafting something new, or serving in her church community.

“I love getting lost in a show or movie—it helps me put down my phone, which is hard to do when you manage social media.” Recently, that show was The Summer I Turned Pretty on Amazon Prime.

One more thing you might not know

Michelle went to four different high schools in three different states. Moving so often wasn’t easy at the time, but it built muscles she uses every day: Adaptability and resilience.

If you see a post that makes you smile – or teaches you something new about JK – drop a like. Better yet, leave a comment. Michelle will see it, and it’ll probably spark the next great idea.
