JK Team

Three million miles and counting: JK's Tim Hall named ATA Super Van Operator of the Year

It started at age 15, riding shotgun next to his uncle on the road. By 18, Tim Hall had his CDL. Thirty-two years and more than three million miles later, he’s been recognized as one of the best drivers in the entire household goods moving industry.

Tim, a JK Moving driver based in Dixon, Illinois, was named Super Van Operator of the Year by the American Trucking Association (ATA) at its Moving and Storage Conference in Nashville – one of the most prestigious individual honors in the moving industry. It’s a recognition that, if you know Tim Hall, comes as no surprise.

What it takes to win

The ATA MSC Super Van Operator contest doesn’t hand out its top honor lightly. To even be eligible, drivers must operate trucks with a gross vehicle weight rating of at least 10,001 pounds, log 25,000 or more miles per year, haul at least 30 shipments annually, and drive for a licensed moving and storage company. From that field, the award goes to the driver who best demonstrates excellence across safety, reliability, and customer service.

Tim checks every box – and then some.

In his more than 12 years at JK Moving, his driving record is spotless. No accidents. No violations. No citations. Not one. That kind of record, sustained over more than a decade of over-the-road driving, is extraordinarily rare.

Beyond safety, he’s earned a shelf’s worth of internal recognition at JK, including awards for safe driving, driver of the month, customer service, safety training, packing and loading, and – a personal favorite – cleanest truck in the fleet.

In Tim’s own words

Tim isn’t shy about his standards.

“I love being an over-the-road household driver. I take what I do very seriously. I’m very professional, friendly, dedicated, dependable, hardworking and motivated,” he said. “My personal goal has been to provide excellent, above and beyond customer service every day to my customers.”

That commitment shows up in how customers experience their moves. Household moving is one of the most stressful events in a person’s life, and the driver who shows up – on time, prepared, and genuinely invested in doing the job right – makes all the difference. Tim has made that his standard for three decades.

“Tim is a stellar and highly decorated employee,” said David Cox, President of JK Moving. “He embraces JK’s values of care and respect as he consistently delivers the best service to every customer with a high degree of professionalism and attention to detail.”

A double honor in Nashville

Tim’s individual award wasn’t the only recognition JK Moving brought home from Nashville. For the seventh time overall, and second consecutive year, JK received ATA’s Fleet Safety Award, honoring our outstanding highway safety record across the entire driver workforce.

Winning once is an achievement. Winning seven times reflects something deeper: A company-wide culture where safety isn’t a policy, it’s a value.

Thirty-two years. Three million miles. A perfect safety record. And now, the ATA’s top individual honor in the industry.

Congratulations, Tim – this one’s well earned.
