JK Moving recognized with a CARE Award

Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) honored JK Moving Services with a Companies As Responsive Employers (CARE) Award.  The CARE Awards commend companies whose exceptional culture and employee engagement strategies create the best places to work across the region. NVFS evaluates a number of activities, including innovative and sustained corporate social responsibility. JK was recognized for its outstanding workplace and community outreach efforts.

“Our core values of care and respect are fundamental to how we treat our customers, community and employees.  We are very honored and excited to be recognized by NVFS for our commitment to all three. Having a culture that values people is what makes us successful,” said Chuck Kuhn, CEO, JK Moving Services.

NVFS and the CARE Awards

The CARE Awards are a natural extension of NVFS’ mission to strengthen Northern Virginia families and the community, because of the focus on work and family. This year, the CARE Awards named JK Moving a responsive employer for its outstanding employee engagement and culture, progressive family-friendly policies, and deep community impact. NVFS selected 23 CARE Award winners based on their performance in the categories of community involvement and impact, health and wellness benefits, work-life policies and programs, and professional development.

“CARE Award winners are leaders in our community who are both inspirational and aspirational,” shared Stephanie Berkowitz, president and CEO at Northern Virginia Family Service. “They continue to show us through their actions and their values that our economy, our community and our bottom lines are strongest when we engage deeply both within our community and with our people.”

Chuck Kuhn speaks on a panel discussion at the CARE Awards breakfast.

The 26th Annual CARE Awards Breakfast took place in Tysons Corner, Virginia recently. During the event, JK CEO Chuck Kuhn spoke on a panel discussion that spotlighted impactful community engagement strategies. To that end, he spoke about the company’s launch this year of the 150 acre JK Community Farm. The charitable 501(c)3 grows crops and livestock and donates them to local food banks to alleviate hunger in the region.  Kuhn noted: “We have employees building a career with us because of what we’re doing in the community.”  In fact, employee volunteers contributed to the farm’s first year success by helping harvest 30,000 pounds of produce.
