Shaquan’s career journey shows that it pays to do what you love. He initially ventured into the world of finance as a financial advisor, a role that allowed him to make a positive impact on people’s lives. However, a desire to explore the country and get paid for it led him down a different path. He obtained his Class A license in Springfield, MO, and embarked on a journey that took him through all 48 contiguous states in just a year.
In July 2020, Shaquan decided to settle down and stay closer to home after getting married. This decision brought him to JK Moving, where he began as a Class A driver. His prior experience working with his hands and freight as a flatbed driver made the transition into the moving industry seamless. Further, he appreciated the professionalism and commitment to quality that JK Moving embodies.
As he continued his journey with JK, Shaquan’s commitment to growth and learning led him to where he is today. He started as a Class A Move Manager, ventured into the operational side, and eventually progressed to the role of a Local Dispatch Supervisor.
A milestone in leadership
One of Shaquan’s most significant career milestones was becoming a supervisor. This achievement is due to his unwavering dedication and desire to help drivers and the crew base excel. As he recalled, the path wasn’t without its challenges, however he embraced them as opportunities to learn and grow. Each experience, whether smooth or challenging, has contributed to his personal and professional growth.

Shaquan’s future at JK Moving is full of potential. With the company’s continuous growth, he sees numerous opportunities in the operations field. If Shaquan had to describe himself in three words, he’d choose “calm, cool, and collected.” This mentality is invaluable in the world of logistics and operations, where maintaining composure amidst chaos is crucial. Shaquan’s ability to be the calm in the storm demonstrates his leadership and problem-solving skills, ensuring the smooth operation of every task he undertakes.
A passionate family man
Shaquan is not just an exceptional supervisor at JK; he’s also a loving husband and a devoted pet parent. Celebrating three years of marriage this year, Shaquan and his wife are currently enjoying their time as a couple, with their fur baby, a lively Weimaraner Labrador mix who keeps them on their toes with his endless energy.
Outside of work: Music, cars, and exploration
Beyond his responsibilities at JK, Shaquan has a world of interests and hobbies that keep him engaged outside of work. Two of his greatest passions are music and cars. He proudly owns a 2022 Mustang GT, which he affectionately refers to as his “baby.” In addition to his Mustang, he also owns a 2008 GT back at home. Shaquan enjoys working on both vehicles, channeling his inner mechanic to keep them in top-notch condition.
His affinity for music extends to his talents as an instrumentalist. He’s skilled in playing the guitar, drums, bass guitar, and keyboard, showcasing his versatility as a musician. Shaquan also enjoys traveling and exploring new places, which pairs beautifully with his passion for cars and music.
