Community Impact

The season of giving to those in need: JK Community Farm's 2025 Giving Tuesday initiative

As we plan our holiday gatherings and think about the meals we’ll share with friends and family, many of our neighbors are wondering about something much more basic: Will there be enough food on the table tonight?

Across our region, food pantries are serving record numbers of families, even as cuts to federal programs have reduced access to fresh, healthy food.

Since 2018, the JK Community Farm, a 150-acre nonprofit farm started by JK Moving, has been working to change that story by growing and donating fresh, nutrient-dense produce and protein to families facing food insecurity. Every carrot, pepper, egg, and pound of beef grown at the Farm is donated to local food pantry partners.

This Giving Tuesday, we’re inviting you to help grow that impact even further.

A field full of impact

Giving Tuesday - Young boy with peppers at the FarmThis fall, three boys ran down the rows at JK Community Farm, sneakers covered in soil, struggling to balance a heavy basket of peppers they had just harvested. One of them looked up and shouted, “We’re going to help so many people!”

Moments like that capture what the Farm is all about: food as a bridge between people, and small actions adding up to lasting change.

Behind the scenes, the need continues to grow. Each day, a food pantry truck arrives at the Farm with empty bins. By the time it leaves, those bins are filled with peppers, potatoes, kale, carrots, and more – grown specifically for the families our partners serve. That same evening, those fresh ingredients are on dinner tables across our community. The connection is that direct, that human, and that urgent.

Growing more food for more families in 2025

Since its first season in 2018, JK Community Farm has donated more than 1.5 million pounds of chemical-free, nutrient-dense food. In 2025 alone, the Farm is projected to harvest 260,000 pounds of produce and protein – more than one million servings of fresh, healthy meals.

This food is distributed directly to families through partners, including:

It’s a true community effort. Each year, 7,000 volunteers support the Farm’s work – about 70% from corporate teams and 2,500 students who come to learn how food is grown and why it matters. Together, their time represents more than $735,000 in annual volunteer labor value.

Giving back with Giving Tuesday 2025

This year, Giving Tuesday falls on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. And once again, there’s a powerful opportunity to double your impact.

JK Moving will match every donation made to JK Community Farm dollar for dollar through the end of the year.

That means:

  • Every gift goes twice as far in growing fresh food for families in need.
  • Every dollar helps the Farm continue to donate 100% of what it grows.
  • Your generosity directly supports local families’ health, dignity, and stability.

Whether you give as an individual, with your family, or as part of a company campaign, your support helps ensure that our neighbors have access to fresh, nutrient-dense meals – not just shelf-stable items – during the holidays and throughout the year.

How you can help

There are many ways to be part of this work:

  • Make a Giving Tuesday gift: Visit the JK Community Farm Giving Tuesday page to donate online. Every gift made through December 31 will be matched by JK Moving.
  • Schedule a volunteer day: Bring your team, school, or community group out to the Farm to harvest produce, prepare fields, or support educational programming. It’s a hands-on way to build connection and give back together.

Visit the JK Community Farm website to learn more about volunteer opportunities.

Planting another season of hope

From those three boys racing down the rows with a basket of peppers to the thousands of volunteers who pour their time and energy into the fields, JK Community Farm is a place where nourishment, learning, and hope take root.

This Giving Tuesday, your support – matched dollar for dollar by JK Moving – will help plant  another season of fresh food for families, hands-on learning for students, and meaningful volunteer experiences for teams across our region.

Thank you for being part of this season of giving to those in need.
