JK Moving Services Recognized as a Best Place to Work by Northern Virginia Family Services

STERLING, VA (November 30, 2018) – JK Moving Services, a global moving, storage, relocation, and logistics enterprise, was honored with a Companies As Responsive Employers (CARE) Award from Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS). The CARE Awards commend exceptional culture and employee engagement strategies, including innovative and sustained corporate social responsibility, to create best places to work across the region. JK was recognized for its outstanding workplace and community outreach efforts.

“Our core values of care and respect are fundamental to how we treat our customers, community and employees. We are very honored and excited to be recognized by NVFS for our commitment to all three. Having a culture that values people is what makes us successful,” said Chuck Kuhn, CEO, JK Moving Services.

The CARE Awards are a natural extension of NVFS’ mission to strengthen Northern Virginia families and the community, with focus on work and family. This year, JK Moving was one of 23 local companies named as a responsive employer for its outstanding employee engagement and culture, progressive family-friendly policies, and deep community impact. CARE Award winners are selected based on their performance in the categories of community involvement and impact, health and wellness benefits, work-life policies and programs, and professional development.

“CARE Award winners are leaders in our community who are both inspirational and aspirational,” shared Stephanie Berkowitz, president and CEO at Northern Virginia Family Service. “They continue to show us through their actions and their values that our economy, our community and our bottom lines are strongest when we engage deeply both within our community and with our people.”

Awards were presented recently at the 26th Annual CARE Awards Breakfast in Tysons Corner, Virginia. During the event, JK CEO Chuck Kuhn spoke on a panel discussion that spotlighted impactful community engagement strategies, including the company’s launch this year of the 150 acre JK Community Farm, a charitable 501(c)3 designed to alleviate hunger by growing crops and livestock and donating them to local food banks. Kuhn noted: “We have employees building a career with us because of what we’re doing in the community.” In fact, employee volunteers contributed to the farm’s first year success by helping harvest 30,000 pounds of produce.

JK strives to attract and retain the very best employees, providing them with ongoing career development and a path for advancement. The company offers a formal Wellness Program, competitive compensation, a generous safe harbor 401(k) and company-paid profit-sharing program, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, Employee Assistance Program; comprehensive medical, dental vision, and ancillary benefit coverages, bonus incentives, and employee volunteer opportunities—including the JK Community Farm.
