JK Moving & Storage Works as Honorary Girl Scout

Sterling-based Company to Donate Moving Service to help Girl Scouts Troop in Herndon, Va.

November 20, 2006—Sterling, VA—JK Moving and Storage teamed up with the Herndon, VA Girl Scouts to bring books and a little Holiday cheer to children in the Bahamas this season.

Working towards their Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting, 7th graders Adrienne, Allison, Kristen, and Sarah repeated the tradition they began last year by gathering books for a school located in Eleuthera on Harbour Island in the Bahamas. Recently, the school library, once the size of a closet, moved into a larger building and, with the help of these girls, the Eleutherian children will receive many new, interesting books to read. In addition, the Girl Scouts plan to surprise the children this year by sending toys for the holidays.

"Without the assistance of the girls, the Bahaman children would not have presents for Christmas," said Carol Burns, Girl Scout Troop 4106 Troop Leader.

After two full days of packing the gathered goods for over 100 students in Eleuthra, Girl Scout Troop 4106 needed help getting the boxes to Florida. Keeping up with last years tradition, JK Moving and Storage was thrilled to move all the boxes to a Florida airport where they will then be shipped to the Eleuthra just in time for Christmas. Burns described the Girls Scouts' relationship with JK Moving and Storage as "positive" and was pleased the "details were quickly worked-out."

"JK is awesome!" said Sarah, full of excitement. "It was so nice of them to help us! The children are going to be so excited!"

Allison, Kristen, Adrienne, and Sarah are 7th graders attending Rachel Carson Middle School in Herndon. Their Girl Scout Troop 4106 has set their sights on earning enough money to make a trip to Eleuthera to meet and work with the children they have been helping through this project.
