Are You Covered?By law, JK Moving & Storage offers liability coverage on items during your move, in transit or while in storage at no extra fee. But, we do suggest considering extra policy protection to ensure all of your belongings are fully covered if lost or damaged. Valuation coverage options for your upcoming relocation:Contractor Maximum Liability - Option A
This coverage is provided at no additional charge. In the event of loss or damage, each article is covered for 60 cents per pound or $50 per article (whichever is less). A $100 deductible applies on all claims. Replacement Value, Full Replacement Cost - Option B*
The value of this coverage must be assessed at a minimum of $5 per pound. When a value is determined, multiply that figure by the deductible options listed below. That will show the cost of the policy. The minimum value is $15,000 or $5 per pound (whichever is greater). Note: Both options will cover you in and out of storage. If you elect the Declared Value, Full Replacement option, your account will be billed at 10% of your monthly storage rate. This continues your coverage while your property is in storage and is a requirement when transit valuation is selected. To calculate your suggested policy coverage amount, multiply the size of your move (pounds) by $5.
Example:
3,000 pounds/weight x $5 = $15,000 policy coverage amount suggested
To calculate your deductible take the amount needed, divided by $100 value per pound and multiply that by the cost of deductible amount. Example:
$15,000 policy coverage needed / $100 value per pound x $.67 ($250 deductible choice) = $100.50 Industry Requirements:
