JK Named Official Mover of the Washington Nationals

Washington Nationals entrust local mover with homeplate as they move to new stadium on South Capitol Street.

February 25, 2008—Washington, D.C.—When the Washington Nationals make their historic move this spring from RFK Stadium into their new ballpark on South Capitol Street, they will entrust everything from their portable batting cage to manager Manny Acta's prized desk to a veritable Washington institution. That responsibility will fall upon the broad shoulders of Sterling, VA-based JK Moving & Storage, designated this week as "the Official Moving Company of the Washington Nationals."

"JK Moving is a true Washington, D.C. success story with a tradition and legacy dating back 29 years," said Nationals Vice President of Marketing Tom Ward. "As we begin to create our own tradition, it only makes sense that we partner alongside a company such as JK, with such a profound sense of history and accomplishment. "We're looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership."

Under the terms of the agreement, JK shall transfer the team into their new facilities, a move that's expected to culminate with a ceremonial delivery of home plate from RFK to the new ballpark in time for opening day. JK is also expected to engage in a number of other cross-promotional campaigns in addition to providing moving services to players and front office personnel.

"We're deeply honored that the Washington Nationals have selected JK as their official mover," said company president and Washington native Charles S. (Chuck) Kuhn. "Nationals Park will surely emerge as a new monument on the Washington sports and entertainment landscape, and it's exciting for us to play a role in the team's move to their new home. "In essence, it makes us feel as though we're a part of the team!"

But the question remains: will JK Moving be ready for opening day?

"No problem," says Kuhn. "After all, we've already had our training camp." Earlier this year, JK shipped the team's gear from D.C. to Florida in plenty of time for spring training.
